The full strain review of Richmond Raceway by Jonah Grows
Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! We’re getting off to the races with this new cultivar harvested by Jonah Grows today. I’ve been excited to try more flower from Jonah since trying the GMO and Zims Formula and was excited to see how this new batch compared to the previous ones.
Alright, off to the races. Upon opening the jar, you’re immediately smacked with some greasy rubber smells that definitely reminds me a bit of the burning rubber smells from a race track. The scent had no problem filling the room within a couple of minutes. It’s a powerful smell that sounds like it would be a bit rank smelling but I was personally a fan and found myself going back for some more whiffs of the gassy rubber.
When breaking down the flower I started to get some quicks whiffs of something that reminded me of a hibachi restaurant. It reminds me of yellow onion and garlic being sautéed. After grinding the flower however, that scent went away a bit and I was left with a pungent rubber scent. There’s a bit of a sweet smell too that I can’t quite put my finger on but it smells a bit like gasoline with a sweetness instead of the nose burning funk you normally get from gasoline.
This flower has pretty dense nugs that are sticky to the touch but a bit dry/brittle feeling. Overall still very pretty nugs that are doused in trichomes but I do wish the humidity was a little bit better.
The first few hits of this were pretty solid – the GMO like smell I got from before was completely replaced with the typical floral notes you get from a good OG. Hints of pine and mint leaves combined with a more complex burnt rubber and permanent marker taste. As the joint burned the flavors got more complex and turned into something reminiscent of a grandmothers perfume or some type of Egyptian perfume. Slowly that taste faded and was replaced with notes of onions followed by more of the sweet permanent marker and pine.
Now for the burn…
Unfortunately the humidity issues I talked about earlier carried into the burn of the flower as well. After a few hits of the joint the smoke started to get pretty harsh on the throat and it began to make the taste of the flower fall flat for me on some of the hits. I did end up putting this joint out halfway through to let it cool. This combined with spacing out hits longer seemed to help bring back some of the flavor.
Overall this flower is good but the humidity issues definitely brought it down a few levels from what it could have been. The flavor of the OG combined with dosidos is surprisingly complex and very different from the aroma of the flower. This strain just kept surprising me as I wrote this review. I think this cultivar has a ton of potential, just needs to be a bit less dry and harsh on the throat to cross the finish line on top.
Thank you for letting us review your work Jonah, we appreciate the hard work you put into this and hope to see more from you soon!
