The full strain review of Gastopia by Jonah Grows
We’re back with another new drop from Jonah Grows and Smooth Smokes! Let’s get into it.
When I first cracked the jar I was hit with a funky GMO type smell with a bit of a refreshing OG pine scent on the backend. Pretty straightforward but enjoyable smell that’s super pungent and will fill up a room quickly.
The flower itself is gorgeous. Absolutely caked and dripping in trichomes. I thought it was cool to see trichome heads shimmering all over the pistils of the flower. The flowers are a bit brittle to the touch but your fingers will be sticking to things after breaking this apart.
The smell after grinding the flower was surprisingly a bit less overwhelming than the scent in the jar but I did start to get more of the spearmint/pine scent and a weird whiff of something like a sweet smelling hairspray.
The joint basically rolled itself and stuck together like glue. Super easy and solid roll. Once I lit the joint I was immediately hit with a taste that I knew from somewhere. I don’t know what specific brand I’m thinking of but this tasted exactly like these garlic and herb crackers I’ve had before. Super savory and tasty. Pretty quickly the backend of each hit started to taste a bit like spearmint and pine. This was pretty much the flavors I got for the first half of the joint. Now for the second half…
At first some hints of something like a sweet lemon taste started creeping in. This was followed by something like a perfume and after tastes of rubber. As I kept smoking the savory rubber taste started to come to the forefront more. Then in the last quarter, the scent completely changed into something sweeter. I started to get a sweet mint taste than soon included hints of lime and in the final moments, I started to taste something more like a cherry limeade slushie. Crazy last half.
The joint smoked a bit harsher on the throat than I’d like and the ash was burning on the darker side but with how fresh the flower still seems, I honestly think it may start to smoke better if I waited a week or two longer to smoke it. This has just been my previous experience with similar fresher grows.
As always guys, thank you for letting me try this one and great job all around! I appreciate being able to see the difference between grows from the same people and it’s been a great experience trying all of these recent batches.
Look out for more stuff from these guys in the future and if you have the chance to try some of the Gastopia, let us know your thoughts!
